My gsp seems to be receding a little and my suspicions to why its receding is I have no nitrates in my tank. Could someone confirm this or could it be something else? I have tried to raise my nitrates by feeding heavily but it is not working.

undetectable nitrates could definitely be a possibility. But we'll need more info.

Can you post water parameters and full tank shot?

There seems to be algae, have you got a lot in the display at the moment?

My ammonia is 0 my nitrites are 0 and my nitrates are zero. I have not got a phosphate test yet as they can't be shipped to Alaska like everything else it seems.
I left my tank for two weeks in the care of my mom so I covered it since about three gallons of water evaporates every week and I didn't want to hassle her with constantly topping it off.

When I came back the nitrates were sky high and there was a major hair algae problem but I have pretty much got that under control. It seems to really like the gsp though so I diped it in hydrogen peroxide.

Ah I gotcha, do you have any clean up crew to help with the algae?

If it's mostly gone and after a few days you're still testing low nitrates and phosphates (once you're able to test), you should try to get those up a little, at least to detectable levels for the coral.

I have some hermits and nassarius snails but they don't really eat algae. The only creature I saw actually eating algae is my clownfish. Any ideas how to get my nitrates up without overfeeding my clowns?

I think the best way is to just feed more. Fat fish are happy fish :)
