Hello,

I have a piece of GSP that's growing quite well, but am wondering what will happen if I brush it off the rock where it's growing wild.

Will the small flakes grow elsewhere? Or can they be considered 'dead'?

The stuff is super hearty. I would suggest pulling the rock out, scraping off what you want... then put it back if thats an option.

It does depend on where it lands. If it lands inside rock work and gets zero light than it will die. Almost anywhere else with light it will attach and start growing. They can reach plague proportions relatively easily. I am in the process of covering my entire back glass with GSP.

I scrubbed it in my tank, thinking minor particles would surely perish but have recently discovered 2 patches of light-purple on the substrate, it does look like a new piece of GSP

I have several spots in my tank where little bits have fallen, and there are now patches. My overflow is covered, which was the goal, so now I think I am going to pull all of the rocks that have it.

I just glued some to my overflow box. I'd like to see how it looks .

Is the rock small enough you can isolate it say like a small island. I think as long as the gsp is isolated from your other rock you are ok and can just trim the matts back as they try to spread onto the sand.

that's one huge chunk of GSP, they sell a similair chunk @ my LFS, it costs about 325 euro's, it's insane

and thanks for the tip! @dede

Aiptasia x kills gsp. So if it spreads to unwanted places where it may be hard to remove or scrub off just cover the area with some aiptasia x for a few mins.
