I have had my gsp for about 2 weeks now 4 days ago it closed up I had a gh algae outbreak in my tank and that haven't opened since I read that brushing them off could help I did that and the mat turned bright purple again like it was when I got it do you think they will open back up again

Hair algae is a side effect of poor water quality. I would worry about that first. GSP is very hardy and should make it if you fix your water quality.

I am working on that now I had a nitrate problem but I am getting it down I removed my bioballs and I have been vodka dosing to ad carbon

I would take it as a blessing and use this opportunity to throw the gsp in the trash. If not you will regret it. It will grow over everything, including other corals.

I suggest putting it isolated in the sand bed. Thats how I keep mine away from everything else.

I LOVE letting mine grow wild on the back of the tank, I think it looks pretty cool when th back of the tank and some of the sides is a solid mat of GSP...Plus it makes it super easy to frag and sell if people want some

When controlling GSP keep in mind that it can shoot out runners to attach to other places so keep an eye out. I had some once that was confined to a rock by itself and grew a 3 inch branch to connect to the nearest rock and try to spread. I disconnected the branch (it was attached very strongly) and moved the next rock further away.
