Well today was sump day, 8 months in and I got tired of looking at a staggering number of sponges in my sump and equipment so I went to town on them.
Cleaning the sump is my least favorite thing to do but when it's done it's pretty satisfying.
Anyone need sponges? Lol

Anytime you have silicates and a shaded/low light area/ you’ll have sponges

Before and after.
There were THOUSANDS of sponges in my sump. I could not believe what I uncovered. I keep a piece of live rock in my sump as both additional bio filter and for future fragging. It's about 12" round, when I lifted it out of the water I found an army of sponges underneath. This was bad. My nine year old daughter said dad I think you have to clean the sump every few months and never let it get this bad again. I laughed and agreed.
