Howdy all, I got some live rock from gulf live rock 35 lbs I think. And I've been thrilled with the diversity of life on the rock from sponges to macro, clams, decorator crabs, tunicates, sea cucumbers, feather dusters, spaghetti worms, astrea, ceriths, urchins, serpent stars, and vividly purple and red thick encrusted coralline algae.
There's just a few things I need help with firstly is a large macro algae that I at first thought was some sort of Caulerpa sp.
It worries me as in a day it has doubled in size.

The second is less worrying as it doesn't seem to grow nearly as quickly but thought I'd ask, not the Halimeda.

If either of these are the dreaded Bryopsis I'd like to get at them before they get out of hand so any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure of the bottom two but the top is a type of Caulerpa, likely sertulariodes or mexicana. I have something similar in my tank and I've found it to be quite a popular delicacy with some of the crabs and fish in my tank.

This is a great source to identify plants: https://www.marineplantbook.com/ Also Gulf Coast Ecosystems has a lot of the algae for sale to help to id (the same people, but the latter is a free identification and care guide).

1. Caulerpa paspaloides (palm tree Caulerpa), gorgeous, fast growing macroalgae that is not as susceptible to going sexual as other species of Caulerpa. A favorite of mine and many others and is easy to harvest.

2. Caulerpa verticillata, This is a very rare pest algae that rapidly attaches to hard surfaces, including walls, and provides cover for pods:

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help with the ID. I'll get to eradicating they Verticillata species now. My filefish seems to like the Paspaloides species, almost trying to mimic its movement.
