Gunk in calcium reactor?

What is the gunk that forms inside the calcium reactor alongside the media. It is dusky grayish powdery looking.

I am running a dual chamber and it's only accumulating in the primary chamber

Sounds like you may be running you pH to low. Meaning excess CO2. Excess CO2 and too low of a pH will cause the media to melt to quickly and create "mush"
