I just came across this black triangular sponge gutter filter type product. The web site is Gutterstuff.com. I wasn't able to find out if this stuff is aquarium safe but at 5 feet long and at $6 apiece sounded like a great deal. There's 3 different types 2 that are fire resistant and 1 with no fire resistance. I just want to let you guy know there's a cheap and probably a useful product from Lowe's. I just don't know if it's aquarium safe.

Not aware of anyone trying this. From the description, it looks like a outdoor stuff, good for filtering coarse-grained particles
