He decided to sleep on the MP40 now. I'm sure that's not very dangerous for a fish......geez what next

You might look into duck bill return nozzles to prevent this in the future!

And then you can know how much to fill your sump so if ever you have a power outage your floors won’t get wet. A finely tuned sump should be able to accommodate any water above the drain vents.

I'm pretty sure mine can. It took about 4 gallons out of the main tank to clear the vents. I also have battery back for my tank in case power goes out and survived 13 hours a few months back without power...thanks for your help

Just went through a similar issue with one of my hawkfishes a few days ago. Get a guard over the drain tubes so at least it wont go for a ride, lol. Mine was just chillin in the overflow.

Too many BTDT's on this one over the past few decades, lol. All overflow drains have a slip guard!

What guard? Mine went into my return line but my check valve at the bottom saved him from entering my return pump.

It wont even enter your piping to begin with. They are worth EVERY penny.

Gotta pull them and rinse them on occasion. Detritus can pack up. I usually do it once a month or so, or when I notice I need to fiddle with the gate valve on the primary drain (usually due to it packing up).

Yes and no. I haven't cleaned mine in a long time. There is some stuff on it but is is overall clear. Hair algae in the overflow is the highest chance of clogging. If you can eliminate the light then this is no longer an issue.

I can see where this is useful in the over flow box where my emergency drain pipe is located but my situation is different. He sleeps inside my return nozzle and got sucked down that pipe to my return pump entrance.
