Well I haven’t seen one but if there is then we can start another one. I am running 2 Gyer 250x on the OGC preset with a max of 30% and a minimum of neg 30%, I did bump it up to max of 40%. But I’m starting to notice some of that awesome red sludge [emoji107]. I’m running them horizontal at almost the top of my tank (150 gallon). Has anyone had better luck with different settings or putting one higher and one lower or even running one horizontal and one vertical. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated

I want to put it at a higher setting but I feel like my fish would do nothing but struggle and my sand Would blow everywhere

If you are referring to red slime, ive seen them populate areas with high flow also. When nutrients are out of whack they can grow on pump walls lol. Dead spots help red slime problems but IMO if the gyres cant do it, no other pump can as their flow is nothing short of awesome

Ya I wish everything would be solved by flow haha. It’s just strange that the only place I’m seeing it is on top of 2 rocks by each overflow and only on one return

Ive used red slime meds, they work but they come back...red slime is normal to show on tanks at some point. Ive only controlled them long term dosing nopox(vinegar or vodka works too), which tells me nitrates are their bullseye

There was a pretty good thread started by @pelphrey that can be found here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/f...-controller-standing-wave-programming.357999/

I have a pair of XF250's in a 54" wide tank that is 30" Tall and Deep and can't run any of the default settings. It is a new tank without much coral to break up the flow. I've been changing the settings every couple days and next up is changing the position. They are on opposite sites of the tank, upper, maybe 1 - 2" below waterline. They move water. The problem I'm finding are the limitations on the controller to be honest. That and it really isn't user friendly even after you learn it. It would be ideal to be able to export a program, edit on your PC, then upload. Also allow more changes to the two default wave patters so that only one side is working while the other is off.

They have a lot of potential, they move a metric ton of water, but the settings I am finding are not user friendly and with a recently cycled tank coral placement is key. That is what Pelphrey mentioned in his video and I agree. I would guess once I have more mature corals, some SPS mixed in, it would break up the flows more and allow them to be turned up. I have several rose bubble tip anemones and hammer corals - the flow just thrashes them around too much sadly. I will say though the fact you can swap paddles for flow, A, B, and alternate is a great idea and works. Just takes a bit of time to set up. Compared to my RW 4's and 8's on my 40 breeder previously controlled via a 20 dollar cable and reef angel controller - that was 10 times easier :)

That would be amazing to be able to go into the controller it self and actually program it the way you wanted and was perfect for your tank
