i run a gyre 130 in a vertical configuration in a 37g cube. After four months of use, my pump has gone from running at less than 50% to a full 100% with less flow than at 50% when new. I have lost several impellers to Cerith snails, stripped a couple impellers, but even with a new set, output is minimal. I just had it apart and noticed significant side to side shift on the motor shaft (possibly from running vertically?) and a noticeable drag on the motor when the shaft is shifted to one side. I put the pump back together with new parts and flow is still minimal. Is this a known problem? The pump is to the point it is no longer meeting my tanks needs, and mind you, this is only s 37g tank.

I have my xf130 mounted vertically as well and noticed reduced flow from one of the flow cages (the one facing the bottom). Has anyone else notice this? I had ceriths get into the flow cage a couple of times but luckily nothing broke. Maybe it was due to the fact I was only running it at 40% in pulse mode.

How did you put the pump back together? I'v had issue putting them back together also.
I'v found if I put the impeller first in the motor. Making sure it is all the way in. I then put the cage over.

Mine keeps stripping the peice that attach to the motor side when I use it in the vertical position, wishing I would have went with Ecotech instead. Worried about the longevity. Waiting on the Apex box to come out but not to sure it will hold up to we'll if ramped up and down often. Sad could have been a great pump.

I had to superglue the couplings into the impellers because they had spun and stripped out the impeller. I left out the rubber bushings as they were shot.
