I recently disassembled, cleaned and reassembled my 230 because I noticed decreased flow rates. I put it back together and now I'm having a strange issue. Instead of one singular direction of output, the water is coming off each rotor in two separate directions. With the cage positioned straight ahead, the water flows away from the unit 45 degrees up, and 45 degrees down, but no flow straight ahead. I want the water to flow away from the unit in one, singular, powerful direction.

It's entirely possible that something is on backwards or upside down... the unit is not well annotated. I THINK it's put together correctly, so I'm at a loss.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Try rotating the cases a 1/4 turn. You can change the water discharge on the 200 series pumps by clicking them up or down.

I am trying to find the manual to better explain what I am trying to say, but basically, the cages rotate 1/4 turn, and depending on which "click" you are on, the water will come out a different way.

Thank you.

Before I messed with it, the flow behaved as shown above. Intake from one angle (green arrows) and output to one angle (blue arrows). Now it's like this:

If I just try to twist the cages to direct one set of arrows straight across the tank, the other set of arrows shoots water into the air, or directly down into the sand, or the softies right below the unit.

Your Gyre may be flowing in "reverse", which is a more diffuse/turbulent, rather than direct/laminar flow. That would be the case if you inadvertently replaced the left-side impeller with the right-side, and vice-versa.

Just a thought . . .
