I got a 250 and this video is at 10% it seems very loud to me. I removed the propellers to see where the now might be

At 50% I can hear it across the basement which is around 50ft

how long have you had it. If it hasn't been very long it could still be trying to wear down some of the bearings and such and get a film on it which will make it quieter.

I removed my 280s from my tank because of the noise level at night. The ramping was crazy, Not sure how the 250s compare. I was told to give them time and the noise would go away, never happened.

They ran for a few weeks then I moved and broke down the tank and re-starting it 6 months later.. So they've been dry for a bit.. I had them in a noisy kids room so I never noticed it really but its going in my office now so as it stands its super annoying

Ok I guess my taptalk and browser accounts are different

I have 2 230s and that sounds a bit loud for 10%, perhaps give it a bit time. I can’t hear anything up to about 50%. above 50-60% I’ve not seen any noise reduction in 6 months though...

My 230 definitely quieted down after a week period as it got some algae/bacteria growth, yet I still find the sound annoying. I now turn it off during sleep hours due to the noise (even at 20%). I really like the flow pattern compared to Vortech, so I keep it. I imagine the sound is annoying/stressful to the fish as well. You'll find plenty of complaints about the noise.

I suspect they all sound about the same, but everyone is different on noise tolerance + their hearing level. Running it in reverse is silent, but it barely pushes any water. I haven't found a particular mode that produces less noise.

Thanks for the input.. I'll keep them running in that 20g and hope they quiet down a bit. I expected some noise but from the videos I saw you could barely pick up noise.

Agree with MrMichael, at certain level the noise just doesn’t go down unfortunately. I couldn’t keep them in my bedroom it’s annoying enough in the living room.
Good luck! I was even thinking of upgrading to a larger one so I can run it at a lower setting

I've got two 250s and the only time the noise becomes apparent is 60% and above.

Just an update.. I sent them back to coralvue with the controller (it was starting to get dim) They replaced everything for me. So pretty happy and they are what I'd expect and seen from other running 250s

So very happy customer
