I am having trouble getting the bushing out with the pencil.Any tips on how to do it.Also what do you grab of hold of with the needle nose pliers?

You grab the ceramic shaft on the left side of the logo i believe and it'll come out.. and use rigid R/O tubing?

LOL

I soak my Gyre (still put together) overnight in Heinz cleaning vinegar. :)

You don't take yours apart?
No. I've had it since last spring. It's the little Gyre. I think they renamed it.
Read where people had problems putting them back together. So, I've been soaking the motor / propeller assembly in vinegar and going over it with a Tunze skimmer brush. It's worked so far :)

I soak it as well but you should take it apart every so often so you can thoroughly clean the dead corralling and stuff.. and its not at all hard to put together or take apart once you've done it enough.. i have the gyre 150... and i do agree with the above soaking is a good idea and it does work well im just OCD on cleaning i guess haha

Yea the first time for me trying to take it apart have gave me a few problems. The vids i have seen are not to clear for me to see what to do.

I have a 250,little over a year old . It was making a different sound so I pulled it. Soaking in vinegar now.it had a bunch of coraline & HA on it. I'd rather not takw it apart but could.I have all the instructions. Also if I do takw it apart any places I should pput some food grade silicone? Thanks

I just cleaned two pairs last month. I watched their videos on YouTube many times and still got it wrong when I reassembled them. But it was not hard just needs some attention to detail. They rolled out a video specifically showing how to put everything back together and I felt that one was very helpful.
I soaked mine in vinegar for a night and used tooth brush to clean every little piece. After the cleaning the water movement was significantly stronger. So I thought it was totally worth the trouble.
