I picked up an Gyre 150 IceCap controller for my Neptune Apex. While the physical connection to apex was extremely easy, it looks like programming the unit is going to be a little harder. Unless I'm missing something (hopefully I am :) )

I was hoping for Apex Fusion to recognize the unit, more along the lines of connecting and controlling my Vortech mp40qd. It has presets built in by Neptune. Unless I did something wrong or am missing a step, it looks like I need to physically go through and write out the profile myself?

I was hoping to achieve a behavior from the Gyre similar to a ReefCrest mode that is on my Mp40. Is something like that available for the Gyre unit? Are there shared profiles for the IceCap/Gyre150 out there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love the Gyre, it moves a ton of water but the pulse mode is practically skinning some of my acropora that are near the pump. Im really hoping for a true random flow out of this thing.

Thanks!

Matt

Setting up was pretty straight forward. You're basically just adding settings to change the speed of the motor. I did create some profiles to do a pulse mode but ended up going back to a constant flow. I also created a profile to slow it down for one of my feed modes.

Yup unless you want to just run the fusion quick set up you will need to make your own profiles. Once you figure out how they work its real simple and IMO way better then the graph. I have my gyre slowly ramp up to 40% while lights ramp up, then switch to a pulse mode, back to a constant, then run in reverse, back to a pulse, etc. Basically it is switching modes all day, then ramp down while lights are dimming and then into a night mode, and my sps love it. Much nicer then just the constant forward gyre. Im at work right now but when i get home tonight i could pm you some pics of my profiles and how i have the code set up if youd like, at least youd be able to see how i did it and then customize yours how you want it

Have you had issues with your pulse mode? I noticed my gyre would lock up periodically.

Thankfully not yet! I did have it burn through some bearings though. Lost a lot of power, but was an easy fix.

Yes if its not too much trouble I like to see it. I created mine after watching the youtube video. I'll see how it goes today. Hopefully the randomness is enough to relieve some of my sps directly infront of it.
Here's the neptune thread i used to base my pulse profile off of.

Thanks for the link and the heads up. I forgot to add a feed profile and assign it. I'll look into doing that as well.

So far I just created several different pulse intensities and durations, mixed them all up throughout the light schedule. They ramp up and down then go into night mode. I just hope I picked the proper intensities! I originally had this on my 180, but since downgrading to a 100g its a little overkill. When synced and went 100% for a few seconds things got crazy lol. Looks to be working well so far, lights come on in a few so I'll get to see it ramp.

Thanks for your help guys.

Not really thankfully, every so often i will come home and it errored out and is not running but a simple unplug and plug back it fixes it quickly and have been running it on the module since release and id say this has happened maybe twice, first time was when i was first setting everything up and had it drop below 20%, which anything lower then 20% on the module just turns off the pump. And once anout a month ago but dont know the reasoning for it happening.

I've always wondered if maybe I didn't have everything properly seated. I upgraded to the new blades a month ago or so. Maybe I'll give it a try again and see what happens.

Hey, would you be willing to share you program with me. I did what was in Carlos' post that you shared and my pumps stay with one at 85% and the other at 25%. I can't for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong.
