yes I upgraded to the new controller a while back and added another xf250 but don't think I dealt with the firmware.Reason i ask because i need to update mine because i have a problem when i use the feed mode the controller shuts down.Maxspect recommends that i do that.Forgot all about it.Have had mine for about 14 months
I found out about it after havings problems with my controller. If i want to fix my problem i need to spend $14.00 for a SD card that i don't have.TBH, I didn't even know I COULD update the firmware on it...
I hear that, one more component cost for an item that is supposed to be top of the line. I truly think it is an awesome piece of equipment, but all the little component costs add up. Those costs especially compound when they are only PART of the peripherals you need to utilize them, I.E. that SD card also needs an SD card reader, a computer, and an internet connection to even be useful.I found out about it after havings problems with my controller. If i want to fix my problem i need to spend $14.00 for a SD card that i don't have.
The card they recommend is $13.99 on amazon.some of those tiny cards are stupid cheap. 14 sounds like an awful lot I am seeing quite a few on amazon for 4-5 dollars or so.
also don't forget there's a chance your phone or an old phone you have laying around could have one of them still in it. they are very common in phone storage.
the card they recommend is ridiculous and unnecessary. I have posted to that end before.Still nothing I see.
not really against Marine depot, but it seems coralvue doesn't seem particularly fond of replying to product inquires by their vendors.
Or at least not in a hurry to get back to them.
side note here but looking through the coralvue blog caveman posted.
under updates for icecap 3k firmware. the post lists
We HIGHLY recommend the Sandisk Ultra – Flash Memory Card – 32 GB – MicroSDHC UHS-I (SDSQUNC-032G-AN6IA) which comes already pre-formatted
why on earth would they recommend a 32GB flash card for firmware that's less than 1MB
seems very....idk not very well thought out.
I am not that tech savy.the card they recommend is ridiculous and unnecessary. I have posted to that end before.
there is no reason for needing a SD card that large for a incredibly small firmware update. any standard micro SD card as long as It is not corrupted and from a reputable manufacturer should do this with absolutely no problems. if you are in the slightest bit tech savvy this should be A simple process. and even then the only thing you "might" have to do that I could think of it change how the card is formatted NTFS/FAT32
+1I'm hoping never as updating firmware not my thing!;Nailbiting
