I had been running my Maxspec gyre XF230 for a little over a year. I moved it from my 40 gallon tank at home to a 125 gallon tank I a currently finishing the build on now. Once I got the pump home I put it in a 5 gallon bucket in the sand and ran it overnight in a bleach/rodi solution. The pump had stopped running by morning and the controller simply said "OFF" on both pump A and B side. When restarted, the program would begin but the pump never started, and within seconds, the controller would say "OFF" again. I contacted CoralVue for help and although it was beyond the warranty period, they replaced the controller. When the new controller came I plugged it in and have the same issue.

Fast forward to today. I traded a tank for some other reefing gear including and Ice Cap Gyre 3K. I plugged the gyre into my wall and turned it on and was impressed at how much water flow it had compared to my gyre XF230. I left the house for a few hours and when I came back, the Gyre 3K had stopped running and its controller had the same "OFF" message as the maxspect controller did. Has anyone else had a similar experience or have a fix for this? I find it more than coincidence that the same thing happened to both of these pumps in a similar timeframe. I have also tried updating the firmware of the XF230 controller with no improvement.

Could it be a power issue? Do you have to much electric running, maybe a bad surge outlet? Try a different power outlet.

Because I have the 3K as well and my controller had to be replaced, but it was displaying upside down, which was a known issue.

Being both controllers are doing the same thing, it seems power related or there's something jamming it. Did you disassemble it and not put it back correctly?

Also the 3K cannot be run in reverse unless you have a separate accessory.

@Forsaken77 I believe it turns out to be a coincidence after all. The circuits are definitely not overloaded as there is hardly anything running on them at all. What I did discover very late last night was that there appears to be a short in the icecap 3K gyre. When moving the wire around, it would begin to function normally. When letting it go, it would stop again in a few seconds. I can't get my maxspect gyre to do the same thing, but I am still assuming there is a problem with the wiring in the motor block assembly. It is definitely disheartening to spend so much money on high-end products that crap out within a couple months after the warranty ends, only one year after it started getting used. It would be nice if @Maxspect would either extend the warranty or provide a higher build quality to prevent this.
