Hi everybody,

So I made a HUGE mistake. Long story short, shredded new RBTA in my gyre. After several large water changes, seachem prime, new media in reactor and monitoring parameters I've got my tank back on track (lost my royal gramma though :( .

Needless to say, I am scared to get another nem again however, I know people have them in most aquariums even with gyre. I saw BRS product but the comments scared me.

So I thought what about screen mesh? Like the kind used for windows, sliding doors, even aquarium lids. Could I possibly wrap my gyre in this fine mesh, still create adequate flow, the materials be safe for reef tank use and have the holes small enough?

Please let me know your thoughts!

P.s. I saw the other post of someone experimenting but I feel you can't get any smaller holes than screen material. Which he did not specifically usr.

Sorry for your loss. This product does great. I only needed to turn my gyre controller up one notch.

Maxspect gyres come with exactly that…a nem/small fish mesh guard. The above should work equally well.

They do sell them on coralvue cite. Though 10$ a pair is ridiculous. I have seen them browsing amazon for much cheaper but forgot what they called them.
