I've been using two Xf150's with ice cap controllers on my 125g and they have been awesome. I've upgraded to a 180 and am now almost exclusively keeping acropora. I am no longer pleased with the flow that the 150's provide,

dead spots using an alternating ramp program that goes up to 100%.

I've purchased one xf280 with the new advanced controller during the 20% sale last week from BRS. I'm going to replace one xf150 with the xf280.

I'm looking for suggestions on how best to set it up.... just use two gyres or all three? Placement? Thoughts?

I’m not sure about setup in your particular tank but I’m using 2 230s placed vertically on my back wall of the 50 gallon cube on each side of the rock structure

Have you broken down and cleaned the impellers? Mine seem to build up gunk pretty often requiring a quick scrub of a toothbrush once disassembled. I try to remember to do it after I brush my teeth, but sometimes i forget. Hehe

Nope not yet, my tank has only been running for about a month. With that said I'm sure once everything takes off I will have to scrub the more often

I've been using them for over two years, I clean them every three months or so... disassemble and vinegar soak and scrub with a toothbrush. It does help flow but not enough.

Cool deal. I run a gyre 150 and gyre 250 on the new controller in my 80 shallow. Maxed at 50% right now on LTC. The more sand I remove the more I ramp the unit up. Lol. I had actual top to bottom tornadoes of sand roaming across the tank when I first got the second gyre.
If you could @Syntax1235, I'd put a 150 on one side, a 280 on the other, and a 150 back center. That's my personal opinion. If all in a random sequence with offset times, should be plenty of flow and random enough. You inevitably will have flow more one way than the other, but I think if placed on the back wall, the 280 would roll the sandbed from front center.
I'm slowly making the BB conversion due to wanting more flow myself.

Thanks for the suggestion... I do have bb, no concern about sandstorm.

My wife painted the underside of the tank to make it look like sand, if works well except with the exception of the braces.

Thanks for the props.
Been married 7 years myself. Won't tell ya said "except". Haha.
Go with "especially the flat portion looks like sand"

Lol.... I only said that because the paint couldn't go under the braces. I would never be brace enough to say "except" on an area that was painted. [emoji12]
