I have a 6ft x 18" x 24" tank. I just picked up 2 icecap 3k gyres due to having an issue with algae on the sand that I believe to be diatoms. I have installed one on each end of the tank. Installing them on the back glass in not an option. I have them on constant flow currently at about 70%. The new flow has eradicated most of the algae, but still a decent amount in the corners under the gyres. Also the sand in the middle of tank has been blown about a good bit, and there are some dunes. I am looking at advice on how to alleviate both issues. I was thinking of moving the gyres down a bit more and then aiming up more. I think I would like to ramp or randomize the flow percentage on each pump as well to get a more random flow in the tank. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I run an XF230 opposite an MP10 on my 40 gallon. The gyre runs a custom program that alternates it flow rate from +70% to -40%. The MP10 is at 90% Reefcrest. I don't think these exact modes matter nearly as much as the fact that each pump is fluctuating in power throughout the day so at some point, the flow is really high from one side of the tank while low at the other, sometimes the opposite, and everywhere in between. This makes the point of turbulence happen throughout the tank rather than just in the middle. This is what I would suggest you shoot for. I suggest you read @pelphrey article on this: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/f...-controller-standing-wave-programming.357999/
