Anyone mixing a single gyre on one side of the tank with a standard powerhead on the other side?

How well does it work? Not sure if I should pick up one gyre or two?

Yep...

Works well, because of the length of my tank I have a real turbulent end perfect for acros and a quieter end for lps / nems.

You can make out the gyre on the left and the big wavemaker on the right...

There's 3 more smaller wavemakers for surface agitation too.

The gyre is on intermittent wave mode, with the longest wavelength possible. The wavemaker is on full throttle all the time, but angled towards the front and bottom so it actually assists the gyre at the other end.

Is that tank 6' and does the Gyre gets to the other end assuming it is the XF-230?

I have a 125 6' with 2 RW-15 on the sides and a Sea Swirl in the middle and trying to decide if I change the Powerheads with the XF-230 or go with the Ecotech MP-40.

Thanks in advance...

I also am running that same setup.....the power head on the left I am controlling with the Apex and am only having it come in is short burst for 20 seconds at a time, every minute.

Yes, I have the xf230 on one side and two Tunze powerheads on the other side - works great for my tank: 120g Mixed SPS / LPS.

Thanks Gweeds1980 and everyone for the responses!

For my set up on a 120g, I was thinking a gyre 250 on the left and on the right a standard powerhead several inches below the gyre blowing intermittently in the opposite direction creating a tidal movement.

It's 8'3"... and no it doesn't make it to the other end!! It's the jebao cp55... it does make it a solid 6' though if I watch the wave along the top of the water.

I am running a Gyre 150 (Jebao CP 40) on one side and 2 MP40's on the other side of my 180g tank seems to work pretty good. Control MP40 with apex and Jebao I run on last setting at 100% and off at night. Mixed reef with SPS on Top and everything else mid-bottom
