Gyre xf130 purhcase now or wait for updated version?

Hello guys,

I am planning on ordering a Gyre XF130 for my 23 gallon frag tank. This frag tank is all sps frags and grow out colonies. I have already decided this is the power head I'm getting. I already have a 150 on my Display and love it. My question is should i order one now or wait until the new propellers and other features get launched. I have an apex and will be dialing these guys in with that once that controller is released. I'm thinking ill be fine ordering it now as i don't use ceriths and have not had an issue with xf150 with the propellers breaking. Thoughts? Also thanks for advice in advance

You could just buy the new props once they are released, also besides new blades what other features are supposed to be released on the 130? I have not heard anything.

Yea I have not heard anything else either, but you know sometimes they save some things right before they release things. I'm more of wanting the cap to be released as I'm nervous that on a 36x18x12 tank the xf130 is going to be strong, and I would like to not have to only be able to run it at 10%. If this is the case and the cap has been released I can just cap one of the sides and only use one rotor and increase the percentage it's ran at

I don't think those will come with the gyre but will have to be bought separately, so really there is no harm in just getting it now or waiting lol

But you are going to want to get the cap, otherwise its going to blow your corals around like a ragdoll.

Yea I know lol I have the xf150 on a 90, got it up at 40% my sps are loving it! If even at lowest setting is to strong, you think id be able to get away with running one of the cages without a rotor in it? So the cage could act as a cap until the real cap is released

I'd think about waiting, only because MACNA is coming up soon (starts Sept 4), and manufacturers often save up new product announcements/releases so they can do them at the big conferences.

To late lol i ordered it yesterday. Didn't even think of MACNA, but coralvue has announced three new things already the controller, new propellers, and the cap. Which besides the propellers all seem to be add ons. Only thing at MACNA i could think of being different is maybe they announce an advanced controller that does not require a Aquarium Controller (Apex, Reef Angel, etc) but i plan on buying the apex connectors for both so a new controller wouldn't benefit me.

At least if they do announce something that's what i'm hoping it'll be so i don't regret ordering it already lol.

What is so great about the new propellers?

They reduced he number of blades to 4, leaving larger gaps, making easier to clean and harder to break off the blades. People were having problems with cerith snails getting in pumps and breaking the blades and also breaking them while cleaning
