In my continuing battle against my gha, I am considering this pump over the powerheads I have.
Any pros or cons?

How often do you find yourself having to take it apart?

I had the 150's and couldn't run it on level 1 or 2 more than a week or two before I had to clean them, otherwise they would stop. :/

I have the 150 and the 130 and I love them. I have not run them on level 1 or 2, so I can't speak of them stopping. They move tons of water if your trying to keep the detritus stirred up.

Did you ditch all of your other powerheads for the Gyre?

I'm using just a 130, for about a month now, haven't had to clean it, works great, love the sheet of water it produces, debating on adding another on the other side of my tank to get flow both ways....

It is a pain to clean and reassemble. I always get a red circle 2-3 times before it starts working after cleaning and putting it back together. If its not kept clean you loose efficiency dramatically.
However, when working it moves a lot of water linearly.

I have had two 130's for a year. They work great, move a ton of water. I tare them down about every there month and clean the gyre's with vinager. I got rid of all my power heads and the tank look less cluttered now. I did add a mp40 QD in the lower part of the tank have more circulation in the bottom of the tank.

I have a 150 and 130 on my 180g reef. They work great and so far so good, been running around 9mths or so. Not sure it's going to do anything for gha though.
