Wondering what gyres are like. Anyone had any experience good and bad. Cheers

We have the 130 on our 40b and love it. I've had cheap eBay power heads, hydors, vortechs and now the gyre and by far it's the one I'm happier with.

Kewl. Cheers guys... im looking at one mayb for my 6.5x2.5x2.5

I have 4 xf150's in my 600 gallon and 2 xf 130's in my 125 gallon and I love them. Just as soon as finances allow me, I am going to replace my Vortecs and my Hydors in my other 4 tanks. My only complaint is that one of the grommets on one of my xf 130's stripped out which after a little research is a common problem. To fix it, just replace the part with one from one of the other water wheels or whatever they're called.

Would one gyre xf150 be enough for a 125 gallon 6 foot long tank?

I've heard the broken gyre story as many times as I've seen people post threads asking for reviews.

Call me cheap, but jebao is where it's at.

I have one xf150 on a 135. I only have it on 40% and it really moves... its great because the flow is even all around as opposed to it shooting at one area.

The plastic just has a cheap feel....like very light....I'm not an expert though:) I really like it overall though

I run the 150 on my 4ft 125gallon. I love it. But... I was dumb and got the fine sand. And since I have a lot of SPS that require heavy flow, I have to turn it up to about 60% and that causes a lot of sand being pushed. So I have started slowly sucking sand out of the tank.

So my only issue is caused by myself.

Do you have it vertical/horizontal? How far from waters surface? Paddle positions?

So I've had the XF150 for a while now and here's how it compares to the MP40.

Water movement - Gyre by a mile. It just moves way more water and leaves little to no dead spots.

Craftsmanship/materials - Mp40. I have yet to have an issue with the XF150 but the materials do not have a high quality feel like the Vortechs do.

Look - tie. I love that the Vortech has the motor on the outside but because the gyre can be placed on the top of the aquarium its much less noticeable

Noise - tie. (QD) they both can barely be heard.

Customer service - most of my experience with Ecotech has been good but I have not been that happy with Maxspects.

Controllability - of course Vortech. Can be controlled from a computer or phone and if you have radions they all tie in on the app.

Cost - they both are pretty expensive. The Maxspect does the job much better but seems to be made cheaply...the Vortech doesn't do the job nearly as well but seems to be made of high quality materials and has way more high tech.
