I read that you use Gyre's. I had two Jabeo sx8 to stir my tank and within days, they both quit working with probably 2 years service. I'm looking to update and upgrade to the Gyre 1K. I understand they're rated for tanks up to 50gal. I have a glass bow-front 75gal tank (48x 24x18). You having these in your tank.....do you think two 1K's would provide the movement I would want. Currently I'm down to one fish and keeping the tank open til life slows up and I can refocus on this investment. My wife like corals and our Kessel light is ready to perform. What are your thoughts of the Gyre....I dont need wifi connectivity so I'm looking to scoop up the older models that are being cleared out. Are they quiet? will two do my job? Open to suggestions, dont like doing things twice with remorse.

Thanks
Mike

I think 2 for your tank will be just fine running at a lower rate as you have a pretty open rockscape from your pic. The nice thing is that you will be able to crank up the flow if you decide to add more rock later.

Do they make noise..... Yes they do, but depends on what you can tolerate. I run a 3k in my tank, and I can tell when there are air bubbles trapped in it cause you will hear it from across the house, especially when its ramping up and down. And when this happens, I just shut the pump off for a bit to allow the bubbles to escape, and i'm back in business. And also when the pump needs cleaning it will make noise, but that goes with all pumps when they need cleaning.

If you are going to go with an SPS tank, I think that in the future, you will need some extra power heads once they get to a reasonable size.

Might be wise to wait...Icecap just rolled out a 2k and a 4k model. Wondering if they addressed the noise issues.

In addition, I've heard that next month Red Sea will be releasing (for sale) their version i.e. Reef Wave

I run a Maxspect XF330 on our 50gal and great. May even add a second for true gyre circulation. It’s dead silent. We run it at 60%.
