- What state or country do you live in
- United Kingdom
Long story short, added some fish 7 weeks ago, had an explosion of what i can only assume is velvet.
Hands up, i didnt quarantine my fish, never have, definitely will from now,
Not entirely sure what it was, ICH/Velvet presumably but maybe you can all help...
Havent added any fish since the 1st February, so thought i was in the clear, evidently not.
Whatever took over the tank was really aggressive,
In order of Death
Yellow Eyed Kole Tang - Died before i even saw the spots, could have had it for days / a week - started dosing after losing him.
Allens Damsel - the day after
Midas Blenny - the day after the allens damsel, no signs of feeding.
For Information - the Tank is a Red Sea Reefer 425xl
Alkalinity - 7.8
Salinity 1.026
Since then, ive had no deaths, that is either luck or H202 is working as id hoped,
Im currently dosing 36ml of 12% Hydrogen Peroxide a day
12ml at 2am -
12ml at 8am -
12ml at 4pm -
Other than feeding, ive turned the lights off completely and its just getting natural day light
Luckily the coral i had was cheap, im dosing aggressively as my fish cost far outweighed the coral
Current Fish i have left,
2 Picasso Clownfish
2 Blue Throat Triggerfish
1 exquisite wrasse
1 leopard wrasse
1 allens damsel
Open to opinions on treatment/how long to dose for, but the plan is to dose for 90 days, after that there should be no ich/velvet at all,
I do have a spare tank if things take a turn for the worst, but not cycled/running currently..
Regards, Mark.
