Hi,

Got some new fish in QT and they've been in there 1 week no probs so far.

Has anyone used 3% H202 instead of copper/cp for a 1 month course?

Easier and safer to me to dose 1ml/10g than cupramine with the angel.

I'd like to try a different copper but meds are limited in the UK.

Thanks

A few spots have appeared on the naso so I've just put the first 1/4 dose of cupramine in. I'll just have to keep an eye on the and bring the copper up slowly.

The trick to using Cupramine is to not use the two big doses. Have found it to be fine if I spread out the total number of drops required to reach therapeutic over several days, dosing AM, lunch, PM. With Ich 3-4 days, with Velvet 24-48 hours, for prophylactic treatments 5-7 days. And of course now using the Hanna HL Copper Checker once the dosing has reached approx. half way to therapeutic works very nicely to creep up on final therapeutic level of 0.50

Helps if you truly know the actual gallonage of the tank. Tanks are seldom the actual size they are labeled. You can measure the tank and use one of the online tank capacity calculators or pre-measure the tank using an accurate measuring cup.

Best of luck with your fish.

Thankfully they are in a 20g QT with a pump and couple small resin ornaments to hide in. I have dosed 1ml of cupramine so far, the spot is barely noticable and they have been feeding well in the last week since they arrived. Was trying to just observe them but looks like we'll have to just treat. I will most likely dose another 1ml either tomorrow or more likely saturday morning. Or maybe half tomorrow and half saturday until I reach theraputic. I'll keep checking with the hanna and make sure it stays between 0.4 and 0.5ppm.

I usually use the "drops" per gallon method. I feel it gives me a bit more control, especially with Cupramine as the overall dose is small and the therapeutic range small as well. Which makes the Hanna even more valuable. Lowers my stress and the fish's stress too.
