Over a year later and still a noob, so I'll post here...

Let's assume nutrients are under control, parameters are good and that the equipment and testing solutions are calibrated and as accurate as they can be.

So, here's the question:

For bryopsis, is H2o2 dosing (3% 1ml after lights are out) safe or should I go straight to Flucon? Is there anything over the counter that would work? I'm traveling and if I buy online it won't arrive on time before I leave...

flucon all the way. I tried the h202 and nada. flucon kicked it. Took 2 or 3 doses as I had a montrous case all over my tank. Been clear for a long time now. at least 6 months. Get a bit of algae on my powerheads and had one patch on the sand that I removed--not bryopsis. I noticed my frag tank has some growing and as soon as my ca and alk are back in line, if it doesn't go away, I'll flucon it too. I had no loses using the flucon except a feather duster

Flucon alone didn't do it for me, neither did H202.

Flucon + Brightwell Hydrat-MG (the old kent tech-M with lithium basically). That combo seemed to help.

I'm gonna go for the Flucon. I'm a but worried about my feather dusters now (I have a big one that has been in the tank since day one), but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'll post an update!

Good to know!

I'll try flucon first and use the combo if option 1 doesn't do it.

I used one capsule more than the standard dose, no skimmer for 9-10 days, wait the full 21 days, waited a week or so and did another round. I believe I may have even done a 3rd round after a few weeks to finish off the last stubborn patches that were under the rock crevices where the light didn't get to. Takes some time depending on your severity. There are several bryopsis threads of some of us who detailed our progress.

Sometimes it's just really stubborn. Some people need to run Flucon 2, 3, 4+ times. I've run it 4 times, the longest was no skimming or water changes for a month, at that point the SPS started to really struggle from the meds. I left the skimmer on, cup off, because a skimmer will pull out the meds.

After that whole month, it came right back in a few weeks.

This last time I dose hydrat-MG (old kent Tech-M with lithum) WITH flucon, and i've seen no sign of it since. The Brightwells Hydrat-MG is from the same supplier as the original Kent Tech-M (confirmed by their head chemist). So it's "Dirty Magnesium" loaded with Lithum, which is deadly to bryopsis.

I recently had to get rid of the bryopsis in my tank. I already run a low nutrient system, but the bryopsis was stripping the water clean and leaving nothing for the corals. I opted for fluconazole. I pulled out all the bryopsis I could then dosed the capsules at the recommended dosage. It's been over a week and there isn't much left. The urchins and snails ate what was dying. I'm waiting until I hit the two week mark to turn the skimmer back on. Definitely recommend using it. No effect on any life in the tank.
