I bought a hach 44600 conductivity meter from ebay. I cannot find any information about it. Does anyone know the accuracy and all other information? Good choice or bad choice?

Is this what you bought?

Given what I saw it selling for on ebay, it better be a darn accurate TDS meter!

This is a better pic:

Ive read its manufactured date was 1979! Hopefully the tech hasn't changed much.

I am curious about the difference between the two readings.

I'm curious about how much the OP paid for this. The ebay post I saw was a couple hundred dollars!!! Why?? The current crop of TDS meters are pretty accurate and only cost $10 to $20.

I plan to compare tds of my ro water to this device, and ill upload the results here for you guys to see. Ive got a cheap handheld china made one that matches my inline hm.

I only paid 120 usd for it. I didn't want to buy a hanna for that price when it wouldnt be as good. This was a deal i couldn't let pass when others were 3-400.

Probably exspensive because its vintage at 30 years old lol

There are quite substantial advantages to better meters. 4 electrode probes. Faster temperature response, etc.

my orion model 128 was a clear improvement over the Pinpoint that I also used and seeming worked fine.

IMO, most are better than refractometers, however.

Do you have any info about this model i bought?

So it appears it reads 3mg/l of my ro water while the other two tds meters read 2ppm.

Unfortunately it says it doesnt read above 20 conductivity? Weird condsidering it has the button for that range? Ill upload the manual since i couldn't find it only anywhere.

Heres the manual

The manual says it cannot read above 20 mS/cm (so no 35 ppt seawater at 53 mS./cm, at least without dilution). it says it can read low levels very well, if you put it into the uS/cm range. Use that on your RO/DI.

How much should i dilute it to know my tanks conductivity? I can weigh the water or use a measuring cup.

If i have a tank water sample of 250ml, can i add 750ml of ro water to that, and just multiply what it reads by 3 to get an estimate of my tanks conductivity?

Im not sure how those calculators would help me in this case.

How should i dilute a sample to read it, double it?

If 35 ppt seawater is 53 mS/cm, and you can only read 20 mS/cm, I'd mix 2 parts RO/DI fresh water and 1 part seawater, to get about 17.6 mS/cm. Mix them by weight or volume. Weight is ideal.

use the calculator to get the PPT (=PSU), and multiply by 3.
