Well, I had a 90 and things were going well, but between baby, work MBA and everything else hows screams for I cant keep up so I bought a 29g biocube so I can stay involved but not have to take care as much water. So my questions... I fi get new sand will I be ok to just add the live rock I have coral for and fish and everything be a live tank or will I have a cycle?

Any advice on the best way to handle this would be awesome!

Youmay have diatoms but no cycle. If it concerns you then add a bottle of Dr tims bacteria when you do the transfer. Keep as much of the water from the 90 gallon too.

I've done it no problems , but lesser water volume equals more work IMO, more swings faster

you won't have an issue at all; I would recommend rinsing the sand for at least an hour to get the silt and silicates out as much as possible. That won't cause a cycle. Also, if you want to avoid diatoms, throw some Phosguard in a bag or reactor and run it for 4 or 5 days before adding the rest of your stuff since it takes out silicates. That'll keep diatoms down. If you notice diatoms, add more Phosguard or change out what you have as it is probably spent. Then add your rock and your tank is ready, no cycle at all.

Good luck with the MBA!! Where are you doing it?

Thank you everyone for the help and I do agree a smaller tank more swings however 10% of thirty gallons water change and 90 is drastic... I can check my water but water changes and making salt water all the time it is too much.

I am a veteran and I am going to Trident U its a military affiliated University MBA in Information Technology . It has been hard but I am three classes away from graduation.

I just didnt want to let go of the hobby all together and when I had my old biocube I was way more successful with growth and water pams. It was easy for me to do a water change and my parm stayed usually normal.
