I have a haddoni anemone with 2 Clarki clownfish. The problem I'm having is that the nem doesn't stay put long. I dig out the sand and let it attach to the bottom glass against the back wall. I always figured that it would do this because it was not happy. After a couple of months of observing, I found that the clownfish fans the sand away from the nems foot. 2 to 3 inches deep. That is when it detaches and goes floating. The power head is turned off so it doesn't get sliced and diced. Why are the clown fish doing this?

I had a mated pair of Clarkiis about 10 years ago that would do the same thing to my S. haddoni, and like yours, it wouldn't stay put because of that. I ended up selling the clowns to a local breeder and it stayed put immediately.

That might not be an option for you -- could try a couple of other things;
Place some rocks around it once it has buried its foot.
Place the anemone in a large diameter piece of PVC, with sand, so that the clowns can't get to the anemone's foot.

I had it in a coffee mug standing upright. But decided to go for a walk one day. Won't stay in it any more. I will have to tryou some different clowns.
