Hey all. Haddoni carpet nem arrived today. I acclimated him and stuff this morning. He now looks not so hot. Sorry about picture quality, anyone know if he is dying or just pooping? Im used to BTAs so I cant tell if he is expelling the insides or pooping.

Lionfish, maroon clowns, marine betta, 2 firefish, 4 chromis, dwarf angelfish, goby, mandarin dragonet. And yes I plan to I just am concerned if its sick

Acclimation important with these nems.
How was it acclimated and how long?
It also needs time to settle in like most nems and often best to turn off pumps and allow it to find a place to call home and set its foot in preferably deep sand bed. If this is a newer or non-established tank- will be a real issue

45 minutes. And its a 8 month old tank. BTAs thrive in there along with torches hammers and other corals, so I thought I would give this a try!

Allow it to settle in and assure flow is moderate and light moderate to medium

Okay will do. The flow is moderate in that area of the tank. I cant turn the pumps off due to the heat in the tank (chiller is on the way!!!). Tank is at 82 with very large airstone as well. I also put ice packs and stuff in the tank to keep the temp as low as I can while waiting for the chiller and our AC to be fixed

Water temp plays a role and often as I suggest..... obtain zip lock bags. You can buy a 30 pack for under $5. Place them in the sump, and use a size that will fit fine and the idea is to rotate them. fill about 5 of them with water and place in freezer. Place one frozen one in sump, allow to melt and lower temp. When it melts, pull a new frozen one from freezer and place melted one back in freezer

Okay, this is a red sea max system. I dont have a sump (saving money to upgrade) and I dont have room in the back chamber with the HOB filter/skimmer. I would have to put the bags in the front display. Ive been using ice trays with RO water and freezing them over and over

Thats fine as long as temperature drop is gradual

Thrive? Didn't you just post a "help, my bta is dying"?

I may be mistaken, if so, my apologies

So I did have a BTA post, this is in my 70, the BTA was in my 125. My BTAs in my 70 are thriving, the one in the 125 wasnt doing so hot because the clowns were very aggressive with it. Ive since moved it back to my 70 and it is doing much better now.

Proof: this is one of my BTAs in my 70 gallon. Taken just now
