Tank has been up a couple months and I’ve been dealing with dinos for at least half that time. Recently noticed some spots of green hair algae and was wondering if that’s a good sign?

Means you have algae growth but it overtakes tanks. I put a sea hare in my tank cause it was smothering corals and just ALL OVER. Recommend sea hare for a huge explosion cause they need supplemental nori when algae is gone. Lawnmower blennies love that too, and have an easier diet than sea hares

Will the GHA compete against the dinos or do I have two problems now?

Getting ready to order some silicate so the diatoms can came to the party also.

I’ve dosed copepods for a while now. They’re all over my glass and presumably everywhere else. I can see their trails on the inside of the glass where they have been eating.

You need to identify the source problem of your dinos which is typically bottomed out nutrients and correct that. GHA is a normal evolution as a tank matures and usually part of the ugly stage in the 4 to 8 month mark. You need to focus on proper parameters and stability with weekly water changes. Get a diverse cleaner crew. Manual removal often. The first year is rough.

Got some nitrate and phosphate on the way. N and P both test zero. I’ve got a 40 with two clowns. I feed enough pellets and frozen to keep a grizzly bear alive. Probably 20 snails. Mostly turbos and nassarius. One other that I can’t remember the name. Down to 3 blue leg hermits.

So the green hair algae won’t compete with the Dino’s? That’s what I’m wanting to know. Just wondering if my “biodiversity “ is expanding with the GHA.

GHA covers rocks. Dinos cover sand typically but the only way to point of sale ID dinos is with a microscope.
