Hair algae or Bryopsis?

I am really struggling to kick this thing. Grows VERY fast. I dosed fluconazole to the tank yesterday and plan to be patient with it but just curious what folks think this is.

Am I crazy or does this look like standard GHA with diatoms growing on it?

You are certainly not crazy - exactly correct. Most people with "brown hair algae" just have GHA with diatoms or dinos growing on it as epiphytes.

This is the first time I have ever hear of this let alone seen it. Is it unusual to have diatoms that grow on algae but nowhere else? Areas where the algae is not growing are clean and the diatoms are strictly covering the GHA.
