Hi Everybody! I am going crazy trying to solve my hair algae problem in both my tanks! One tank has most of it on the live rock, the other tank has it mostly on the substrate. I tried removing it weekly but it never stayed at bay. I increased my CUC but that did nothing! I got urchins, turbos, and tiger coaches but no difference! I reduced my time of lighting to 8 hours and have NO white lights on. NO CHANGE! HELP ME!

Get a hob algae scrubber. Think icecap makes one. Will help tremendously.

What's your water change routine?

Nitrate and Phosphate levels? (although this could be misleading because algae will take in nutrients)?

You sure it's GHA and not something like Bryopsis?

How old are these tanks? What kind of flow in the tanks? Can we see some pics? Lets see whats going on...

Having only a hob filter means you have no way to export nitrate and phosphate. How often are you doing water changes? What are the nitrate and phosphate levels?
