How do I post a pic to verify if this is hair Algae I have and also what's creeping on the rock and if it's live rock j. I took over the tank after my brother died and he had it running for 3 years

It’s not live rock. Live rock is purple. Some of the algae is hair, but there appears to be 2 or 3 different types of algae on there.

Ok do you know the type of rock

Dry. There are only two main types of rock:
Live = covered in beneficial bacteria & algae, colored pink/purple.
Dry = no beneficial bacteria/algae, colored brown/tan/white/whatever you want to call it
