How many people battled through a hair algea problem and how many gave up and packed it in.

Be aggressive! A media bag of gfo to lower phosphates. Possibly decrease your lighting schedule by a couple of hours a day. Make sure a sunlit window isn’t close by. Check nutrients, back off on feeding if you typically feed heavy. Manually pull the gha out. 10-20 or 30 turbo snails depending on size of tank. Keep your tank real clean, syphon sand/gravel. Water changes. A good carbon. 4-8 weeks later you should be good. Again being aggressive is the key. Any one of these (like cleanup crew) just isn’t enough. :)

Thankyou for the grat advice. I will follow it diligently. I have installed an algae scrubber as well. Hopefully I will get through this. Thanks again.

Algae scrubbers are great. I have one too. What’s nice about the list is it’s working for you while you sleep or are at work.

Thankyou everyone for talking me down off the ledge. I was ready to shut my reef tank down last night.
