I am a newbie who just began the setup of a 40 gallon breeder tank. I have the water salinity at 1.026 for past several days and added some rock that i bought from a local guy who has a few tanks. I am going to start doing some aquascaping (I should have done it before adding water) :). But I noticed some hair like substance growing on the rocks and coral. Is that good or bad? See attached video.

This is the rock i got.

I assume the first pic is coral? yeah, I am that green :)

Looking good! But I don't see the hair you mentioned...

Not untypical and you can reduce white light intensity a little to help alleviate this.
Addition if clean up crew will help control this also
Add:
Turbo snails
Nassarius snails
Nerite snails
Astrea snails
6-8 blue leg hermits

Ok thanks. appreciate it. Just wanted to make sure before I continue.

What you need are seahorses,, they won’t help but will give you something to look at instead of hairy rocks ,, lol
