Please help....this can't be normal...
I have no peramiters except my salt is in the safe zone and my temp is 78-80.

manually remove
get an urchin
too small a tank for a tang
get a cuc with snails and hermits
lower feeding
use RODI water
lower your photo period or do a black out
look up hydrogen peroxide dosing

alot of ways, HTH

What are you feeding? Most of the time algae is caused by excess nutients in the water. Once you get control and lower them the algae will not survive. I had a problem with liquid coral foods so i backed off. You also need to test for phosphates. Even rodi water can have excess phos. I have heard that conch snails will eat it up in a quickly but then you have to remove them are they will starve. Bottom line is you have to figure out why you have these nutrients with testing your water and making sure all parameters are okay.

Yea I didn't even have a cuc in place yet....I had a hawkfish, and a fire shrimp...thought it was well ballenced...I guessed wrong...so I picked up some hermits today and they are wrecking the algee allready....I used the peramiters from live aquaria on their kits and built something simular at my lfs...gotta wait till payday to pick up some snails, and a reef test kit...

Any thoughts on snails? Which is better then the other or are they pretty much the same?

And what's a good way to get rid of the hermits waste? I got lil stick looking things all over the place now....lol

What ever snails you choose make sure their disc is clean. The discolored ones tend not to be as healthy as the clean ones. And I'm not sure if it's just my opinion but the ones with clean discs seem to have more of an appetite.
