Hairy Mushroom to host Clowns?

So I was thinking about getting a hairy mushroom to see if my clowns will host it. I have scoured the internet and read good (no issues) and bad things (mushrooms ate them). What’s everyone’s opinion about this here?

Have no idea if the clowns will view them as an acceptable host. My tank is plagued with the cursed things, but since I also have a magnifica anemone the clowns choose that. Mag is the only thing in my tank that can out sting the shrooms.

Yeah, I can possibly see a large LPS maybe swallowing a small clown but I’ve never seen a mushroom devour something that big. Time for me to look that up.

Hairy mushrooms are safe but the elephant ear ones will eat fish have had that happen before

You say “used to”. What happened? My hairy mushroom split 3 ways so now I have 3 small hairy mushrooms. I don’t think the mushrooms will host the clowns until they are bigger like the ones in your pic.

So the hairy mushroom I picked up ended up splitting in 3. The was maybe 2.5 inches? So now that they’re that small I guess I need to wait until they grow bigger for the clowns to consider it a viable host. Time will tell. They may never consider it a host.
