Half Circle Reef Tank

Wanted to share some of my pics of my previous tank, a 76 half circle reef. I haven't seen any of these lately, and it was hard to even find people back then with them. Half circle was a fantastic tank to scape, but hard to take pics and difficult to light.

wow sweet shots dude. is that a wide angle lense or is it the tank doing that? My LFS has a really nice half circle DT that they are selling for a fraction of the price. it comes as is for $1100 I was tripping on the price. Over $4000 in it as it sits.

Nope, thats just a regular lens, and the effect is from the rounded tank.

It cost me over $1600 for just the tank, stand, and canopy. I ran 2 x 150w CurrentUSA fixture in the back, and 1 x 250x CurrentUSA fixture in the front.

Half circles are awesome tanks. I don't think you much of them because of the lighting issue. You could always DIY a setup for them. Longer bulbs in the back to shorter bulbs up front but then you are running into different ballast and different bulbs. So I could see the headache in it. But you had a sweet tank man.

Thanks. That was before I really got serious into reefs, and still had some trouble keeping SPS. I wasted a lot of money buying colonies from Divers Den, haha.

Nice setup up for sure. You don't see many of them anymore at all. My LFS has one that is setup pretty well. I can see the difficulty in trying to light it. And it always makes me feel like I'm drunk when I walk from side to side....lol. But there is something about the shape that allows you to see everything REALLY well from the center if that makes sense.....I can't imagine just how difficult it would be to take non-distorted shots of that tank.

Yeah, my macro lens was pretty much useless on this tank.

I loved the shape because it seemed like the fish had more room to swim around than just a traditional rectangular tank.
