Halichores vs leopard wrasses

Hey everyone,

does anyone know if any of the species of leopard wrasses or all of them will do the same pest control job as Halichores wrasses? I want to get a couple leopard wrasses for my 120 sps mixed reef, but only if they have some sort of purpose. I got a ton of pods and a deep sand bed so no worries for the leopard wrasse there.

So they do a similar job the Halichores are just a bit better at it?

hard to say which would do a better job, my leopard wrasse and springeri damsels decimated all worms, pods, and flatworms in my dt (80 gallon).

I think leopards are better hunters. Mine are almost as dedicated to hunting as mandarin are. I have 11 different kinds of wrasse in a 250, they all clean pretty well.

My leopard loves getting very deep down inside the rock work, depending on how yours is laid out one or the other may be more suitable..

Awesome, I like the look of the leopards more! I love utilitarian fish, currently the only pod hunters I got in my systems as a copperband, a pipefish and a red scooter.

I had a beautiful blue star leopard in my last tank that used to hunt all day before she dove back in the sand at night. I'll have another in my new setup.

Planning on getting a blue star next, I just ordered a ornate leopard wrasse after hearing that they do the job! Can’t wait to see him in my 120!
