Halide to LED...making the switch

Check out Reefnjunkie's SPS under LEDs. The colors are **** impressive, I'm even thinking about switching.

Not to hijack the thread, but what optics have the best results in everyone's opinion? I have an ocean revive fixture with 90 degree optics, but I also run it about a foot off the water so as to get good blending of color and not to spit light. Anyone have opinions on this?

It really depends on how tall your tank is for what optics work best for you. If your tank is 24" tall or less I would say standard 120 degree optics would work perfectly fine and if your tank is 24" tall and you want to have some extra power than 90 degree optics. 24-30" tall tanks would be fine with 90 degree optics or 60 degree optics if your tank is 30" tall and you want some extra power. 30-36" tall and anywhere between 30-60 degree optics depending on how much power you want and where your light fixtures will be sitting. I build my own fixtures and for SPS tanks the above info I wrote seems to fit best with the different tanks and their heights. If you have a canopy and you want your lights to be inside the canopy I always recommend going with the widest optics possible to avoid any spotlight/disco effects from not being hung far enough off the water.
