Halides question ....

I just took one quick reading on my par on my highest rock where I have 1 SPS. 468 is what I had 16” down. 8” below fixture is my water and 8” below that is my 468 par on my PMK. I am running a 250w radium bulb in a lumen Bright fixture with a luxcore ballast put on the HQI setting. I want to take a reading when I get my reefbrite fixture and see what one I get best readings from. I love this lumen bright fixture.

how do you measure the output of a ballast / poss double
A multimeter will do it.
But those measurements are already found from manufacturers of those ballasts/ bulbs and articles.

I rebuilt mine as all wires were torn off . I have a spare exactly similar but it won't be cheap to ship . Plus since they are no more available it would cost a bit !

Honestly I think you are better off buying a new M80 from Hamilton although am not exactly sure they will be exactly similar in performance to the old reeflux cubes and sunlight supply bluewave 7 .

Regards,
Abhishek
No worries I appreciate the thought. I'll have to source something different. I can get the Hamilton stuff locally, but was hoping for more options. I guess nobody build M80s much anymore since halides are out of favor in the lighting scene.

Hamilton's M80s are true M80 ballasts, aren't them?

Yeah they are real M80s, was hoping there were more options for magnetic 250W HQI ballasts out there. I've just had some iffy experiences with Hamilton ballasts. Not knocking the company, but I've gotten a couple bad ballasts from them over the years that somehow made it through QC. That said, I do have a pile of working SE Cayman sun pendants and m58 ballasts laying around in case I ever need parts for some of my aging halide setups on customer aquariums.

If you have any problems, just call Dave. He is the best!
Yeah, hopefully manufacturers will wake up and try to work more on halides' options.
Gotta love halides!
Cheers!
