halides

wanted some opinions on halide bulbs. have 2 250 phoenix 14k that were recommended... not so sure i like them. is there a bulb i can use that will be crisp and make my corals pop??? thanx in advance

Yes radiums will look nice for sure. I have the 20k ushio bulbs and like them a lot. I also moved from Phoenix bulbs. A lot of bulb color also depends on your ballast. A bulb on somebody else's ballast may look totally different in yours. For example: a friend gave me 2 ushio 20k 250w de bulbs and they looked really blue on his icecap ballast, but on my lumatek it looks purple. My radiums looked waaay better on his icecap than my ballast. Sometimes it's trial and error with them. You can ask local club members to borrow some old used bulbs to get a better idea of what your looking for if you have that option.

+1 for this bulb when staying with Halides. That is what I was planning if I woudl have stuck them out for longer!
