I’ve had these guys for a little over a month now and recently two of them have been really struggling. One has brown strings flowing out from the middle and is really contracted while the other is deflated and retracting aswell. As you can see in the first pic the two hammers in the back are doing great atm so I don’t know what’s going on with these two.
Edit: just did Alk and calcium testing
Alk came out to 7.9, a little low but not to far off my range of 8-8.5
Calcium came out to 430 which is slightly higher then my 420 goal but also not significant
Going to do phosphate and nitrate now
Edit two: phosphate came out to an average of .02ppm over three tests
Third and final edit: nitrate came out to around 2-3ppm

Hi @NexisG

Sorry for the delay. I wanted to see where you are at with them and if we can still help.

The one in front I would expect to continue to loose tissue. How are the other 2? Your numbers look ok, nothing that I would expect to affect a hammer. You mentioned brown string. It may be just waste from the coral or brown jelly disease. Would needs some pics if possible

Hey thanks for the reply. The 2 in the back still look healthy as can be and the 2 head neon green one in the last picture looks practically the same. May be getting slightly better but it’s hard for my to tell. The blue frammer died over the next couple of days, I’m thinking it was a bacterial infection of some type. It was the newest of the bunch , still sad to loose it though. It was perfectly happy until one day, boom half its tissue is basically gone. Anyways I can get better pics of the green one tomorrow and I was planning on retesting my parameters then as well .

Here’s what the two head green hammer is looking like, very similar to before.

I believe I’m going through the same problem with my hammer. I’ve had it nearly 8 months now, but last month I noticed it doesn’t open up much at all anymore but still digests. No idea what to do. How is yours doing?

I say add some p e mysis shrimp your coral are hungry and they need to eat! I have a 15gal tank with very simple filtration and i add small amounts every night in small doses and my tank loves it.

Here’s an update on my hammer. I came home after a weekend away and it looks like a head is done for. Does it look like poop or brown jelly coming off of it?

Hard to say, but to me that doesn't look like it is coming from the mouth. Add to that the sheer speed at which it seems to have gotten worse, and I am leaning towards possible brown jelly, or some other infection.

This was yesterday. As you can see it got worse. The left head was also infected so I unfortunately had to part ways with it. I think it was initially shocked from the transfer a month and a half ago.
