My hammer coral was doing perfectly fine until a couple days ago where it turned into this. I asked my friend who also has a hammer coral and they’re saying it’s bleaching. Is that what’s happening? And if so how can I save it?

I dont think anyone has asked yet, are there any other LPS in your system that arent doing to well?
My blastos and Acan are doing really well but my lepastraea is turning brown so idk what to do for that one. My nutrients aren’t that high so I’m putting it on the ground in case it’s the excess light that’s turning it brown

Often they bleach when getting too much bright light and even flow. Assure phosphate is not elevated which will irritate them in several ways and feed them mysis shrimp -Not plankton foods such as reef roids which will raise your phosphates and promote algae.

This post is not specifically directed to op, but is there a chance lepastraea could have BJD and spread to hammer?

Alright so should I lower the light and flow for a bit and see how it is?

don’t have a second way of checking salinity. just check to see if it’s 1.025 since that’s the salinity I always keep it at. Mag I don’t have a test kit for so I’ll be getting one to check
I understand but what are you using?
Hydrometer, refractometer?

A029 I’m keeping it around the 100-150 par range for the hammer but not sure exactly what it is since the egg crate lid is blocking part of it
I believe this is an aquaknight light and is 30 watts and may be insufficient for this coral.
