My hammer coral occasionally lets out stingers to keep other coral at bay, but something must have made it really mad this afternoon. This time it must have had at least a dozen stinegrs sweeping the area, extending a good 8"-10"!! It was so unusual for me, I snapped a quick photo and thought I'd share.

I'm guessing its target is the torch on the upper left.

That's a BTA that thinks it's an LTA in the upper left, but yeah, that could be the target. This time. The hammer's usual target is a colony of ricordeas on the lower left that's trying to encroach on the Hammer's territory, but they're out of the above photo. Here's a photo of their usual battle of tangled tentacles:

Yikes!

LOL!! It's not that bad, it's just nature in action, and they only do a tug of war without doing any real damage to each other. I just take a stick and separate their tentacles. The meanest stinger I have in the tank is actually a brain. Very fine and long filamentous sweepers, it melted half an acan lord colony I made the mistake of placing too close, and made a mini-maxi scurry away and turn into a tight ball for a few days.

Neat! Thanks for sharing!! :)
