Anyone else have experience with hammers changing colors over time? This toxic bicolor hammer is changing to be a more purple hammer.

The exact same thing happened to my bicolor hammer. It eventually lost 99% of the green and is mostly all purple now. Bummer. Now I don’t by bicolor hammers any more.

Probably has something to do with the spectrum of light it's under.

I'm guessing when it was more neon it had more uv or close to uv and actinic light than it does now

The one i purchased came from WWC, and was under Radions. I use Photon V2’s. So I’m sure the lighting played a huge part in the color change!!
This was mine when I purchased it 3 years ago.
And then what it looks like now. It’s the one on the top right of the right rock structure.

IME corals kept without a large bio-diversity and good lighting lose coloration.

Coloration in corals is actually Algae/Photo plankton. They can get their colors back, lose them, etc.

a perfect example of this is Maxi Mini Nems. They use the Algae spores from other corals they release throughout their life cycle to grow, when they do this, they end up taking on the coloration of those corals, generally giving you a rainbow looking Maxi-Mini at the end.

Not sure what else you've got in there.

This isn't based on science. I'm no biologist. Just information I've gathered in the last couple years.
