I’veI don't see any pest but the tissue is dying and breaking apart. White stringy things sound like mesenterial filaments from inside the coral, which is what I think you are seeing around the inside of the mouth that's partially gaping.
Tank looks pretty new. Can you post your water parameters and light level? How long have you had it?

2 hermit crabs
1 nassarius snail
1 branching hammer coral
It has been established for about 9 weeks
Temp - 25 degrees Celsius
I will test my water tomorrow as that’s when the test kit arrives and I have had the hammer for about a week
