Hammer coral dead?

My hammer has def took a swing for the worst. Is there no coming back and should i remove? it does not like like it once did(so full i couldnt see any heads.) Now all i seen is the head and polyps are all almost gone. Seeing some brown goo releasing also. my parameters are good. ph-8, nitrate-0. alk 11- cal 425-1300. Gonna do a wc. I think im gonna stick with soft corals. **** is frustrating bruuhhhhh. Thanks

What lighting do you have it under and how intense do you have the light? Also how much flow do you have on it? Hammer corals are pretty hardy and like low light and low flow. Do you also know your ammonia levels and water temp?

A radion @ 35%. MP10 reefcrest @ 35% on the far left. Moved the hammer to lower flow/light when it started to decline. Ammonia is 0 and temp is 79. It looks bad, like the worst I’ve seen it. Water has been cloudy, I’m thinkin maybe a bacteria bloom cause by it

Radion and MP10 both at 35. MP10 is on the far left. Moved the hammer to the far right where there is low flow/light. It has since decline further. I think I beat it up real bad with the flow and light initially and it can’t recover. Amm is 0 and temp is 79. I’ve had cloudy water which looks like a bac bloom. I’m thinkin it’s this. Toadstool closing up as well. Something is off but I have no idea what is is

Hmmm. I'm not sure then. Only other thing I could think of is there's a pest in the tank bothering it.
#reefsquad any other suggestions and is it save-able?

If you're seeing brown goo it's possible it may have a brown jelly infection. You can sometimes cure it by dipping the coral but to be honest I haven't seen many euphyllia corals come back once they get to this point. I would try dipping it in Coral ReVive, ME Coral Wash Off, or something similar and then place it in QT to see if it will make a comeback.

My only other guess is that there is something else wrong with the water that is making it severely upset. Do you have any other corals and if so are they looking upset as well?

I don’t have any dips on hand. I do have iodine? My toadstool has polyps that are an inch long, they have been retracted for some days. All my zoas are open and looming great. Gsp isn’t as bright and flow has stopped even tho it gets great flow/light. I removed ChemiPureElite and purigen. But that was after things were looking bad. Also cut down on flow by taking off jebao. Sal is 1.025

That should be fine though.

You are running a higher alk with low nutints it looks like. What’s the Po4?

What else are you dosing , Aminos fuel mb7 vibrant ?

BJD is usually a secondary infection , once flesh rots the virus moves in and colonizes. It can then spread.
Like the flu, you have to be exposed to virus and be half unhealthy to let it be effected. OR have dead flesh make a nice home for it.
IMO , bjd in the flu scenario would present right away, if the flesh rots it could develop.

It’s the sad case sometimes in younger tanks the alk and ph aren’t settled in quite often and nutints and bio filter just aren’t stable to process, either higher nutrient loads that lead to cyanos alge etc, or are processing faster than its being fed,
The true zero zero scenario , and staving corals or one sided nutrient limitation scenarios , Dino’s chrysophytes etc.

As far as the bloom , get air inthere , think about air fresheners and look for dad snails etc.
